Aberdeen-based energy service company EnerMech said yesterday it had appointed two new directors as it prepares for significant growth.
Steve Abel takes on the new role of valves director and will oversee the mechanical engineering group’s international valve operations.
Meanwhile, Ian Pym has been named EnerMech’s first QHSE director and will manage quality, health, safety and environment functions across its 25 locations.
The appointment of Mr Abel, who held senior positions with Score Group in Aberdeen and Leeds-based Valve Testing Centre, follow a £4million investment in developing EnerMech’s valve division, including the recent acquisition of Australian company Valve Tech Engineering, in Melbourne. EnerMech said its valve offering was well established in the UK, Middle East, Singapore and Australia and the group was looking at other opportunities in west Africa and the Americas.
Mr Pym joins from nuclear fuel company Urenco, where he was head of global compliance. Previously he was in charge of HSE for Babcock’s defence division and, during a 30-year career with Rolls-Royce, held roles which included head of HSE for the company’s submarine business and senior corporate positions.
EnerMech operations director Phil Bentley said: “The rate of organic growth, paired with our strategic acquisitions, has established EnerMech as a truly international business and we are now at the stage where valves and QHSE should have a director overseeing these valuable functions.”
Formed in April 2008, the group now has a 1,500-strong workforce with bases worldwide.
EnerMech recorded turnover of £140million in 2012 and it is expected to exceed £225million in 2013 while the workforce is forecast to grow to more than 1,700 by the year-end.
It has spent more than £13million to increase its presence in the US and Mexico and hopes to complete a deal within six months in the US crane, lifting and hydraulic service markets.
