Aker Solutions has landed the front-end engineering and design (FEED) work for the Equinor Wisting FPSO in the Barents Sea.
The contract is to provide FEED of a circular floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) solution.
If it progresses to development, Aker Solutions estimates that an engineering procurement construction installation deal could be a “significant” contract worth between £684m and £1billion.
Sturla Magnus, executive vice president and head of Aker Solutions’ topside and facilities business, said: “”Wisting is one of the largest upcoming industrial projects in Norway. We are looking forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with Equinor for this significant field development, and to mature the project towards a planned investment decision.”
Equinor has previously stated that it could recover 440million barrels of oil equivalent from the Arctic project, the northernmost discovery in Norway.
The FEED work, which follows completion of a study phase, starts immediately, with planned completion in the third quarter of 2022. It will be led by Aker Solutions’ offices in Fornebu, Norway.
Wisting is located around 192mles from the Norwegian mainland, operated by Equinor with 35%, who is partnered with OMV Norge AS (25%), Petoro AS (20%), Idemitsu Petroleum Norge AS (10%) and Lundin Energy Norway AS (10%).
