Industrial services giant Bilfinger has appointed its new CEO.
Thomas Schulz will take up the top job at the German-headquartered firm from March 1, 2022.
Mr Schulz is currently the Group CEO of FLSmidth and Co, Copenhagen, a provider of engineering equipment and solutions to the global mining and cement industries.
In January Tom Blades stood down as chief executive of Bilfinger and chief financial officer Christina Johansson took on an interim CEO role.
Chairman Eckhard Cordes said: “We are pleased to have gained such an experienced and successful manager and engineer in Thomas Schulz. Together with the current members of the Executive Board, Thomas Schulz will successfully drive the Bilfinger Group forward.
“At the same time, I would like to thank Christina Johansson on behalf of the entire Supervisory Board. She is continuing to perform her duties as Interim CEO alongside her work as CFO until Mr Schulz takes over, and is mastering this major responsibility very successfully.”
Mr Schulz has been group CEO of FLSmidth since 2013.
The 56-year-old is a German citizen and has also held senior roles within Sandvik AB and Norsk Hydro.
He said: “Bilfinger is now focused and profitable again. Securing growth for the future and further developing Bilfinger’s extraordinary potential is a task that I am very much looking forward to. I am convinced that I can make a significant contribution to this as part of the Executive Board team.”
