Oil service provider Teekay Offshore Partners said today it had bought a 50% share in a production vessel from parent Teekay Corporation for around $204 million.
The Itajai vessel is currently operating offshore Brazil under a nine-year contract for oil and gas giant Petrobras.
“We are pleased to be completing another strategic FPSO acquisition, our second to-date in 2013, which will bring the total FPSO fleet size to five units,” said Peter Evensen, chief executive of Teekay Offshore.
Teekay Offshore provides marine transportation, oil production and storage services to the offshore oil industry, with a focus on deepwater offshore oil regions of the North Sea and Brazil.
The remaining 50 % interest in the Itajai FPSO is owned by Brazilian-based Odebrecht Oil & Gas S.A.
