Four oil companies are to carry out a joint social impact assessment on Greenland communities that may be affected by their plans to explore for oil and gas to the north-west of this ice-bound land mass.
Maersk will lead the study on behalf of itself together with Cairn Energy, ConocoPhillips, and Shell Greenland.
Specialists from each company and their Greenlandic joint venture partner NunaOil will be invited to form a panel to support and guide the study, due to be completed by this summer.
The study will be coordinated by international consultancy, Golder Associates, in partnership with Greenlandic consultancy, Inuplan.
