Drilling contractor Ensco has ordered another ultra-deep water drillship to meet growing worldwide demand.
The £400million vessel will be the eighth Samsung DP3 drillship in the Ensco fleet and will be built at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea.
Ensco said it expected to receive the rig in the third quarter of 2015.
Ensco chairman, president and chief executive Dan Rabun said: “We continue to see very strong demand for rigs in existing deep water markets, along with growing demand from emerging exploration areas.”
The Ensco DS-10 will be 755ft long, 125ft wide and will be able to drill in water up to 12,000ft deep.
