Energy industry service provider Petrofac has signed a new £32million agreement with Oman’s state-owned oil company to operate and maintain two new production facilities in the Middle East.
The deal, for an initial three-year period, will see Petrofac providing operation and maintenance at the Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production’s new Musandam gas plant in Bukha, which includes an onshore plant and facilities for receiving offshore deliveries from the West Bukha field.
It will also provide services for the Abu Tubul onshore development in central Oman, which is also currently under construction.
“Musandam gas plant and the Abu Tubul onshore development are critical assets for developing Oman Oil’s oil and gas capability,” said OOCEP CEO Salim Al-Sibani
“We believe selecting Petrofac, a world class oilfield service provider, is an important first step in achieving our objectives.”
Petrofac will design and implement management systems and handle the intial transition from commissioning to full operation at the facilities, with teams deployed across the two developments from their central hub at Sharjah.
Bill Dunnett, Managing Director, Petrofac Offshore Projects & Operations said: “This contract award reflects our strong track record in supporting and enabling asset owners through the provision of operations and maintenance services, both in the North Sea and in the Middle East and North Africa.
“We look forward to working closely with OOCEP to help generate the optimum return, safely and efficiently, from these strategically important assets.”
