Technip has landed a multi-million pound contract for pipelay and subsea installations from Statoil for their Snøhvit CO2 project.
The deal, worth a minimum of £42million for the French-based solutions firm, will see them fabricating and installing flowlines and spools, along with a new production and injection template and manifold.
The announcement comes just days after GE landed a £93million deal to provide subsea production and injection equipment for the project.
“This award confirms Technip’s leading position as the contractor of choice for marine installation projects in the Arctic,” said Technip’s managing director in Norway, Odd Strømsnes.
“It also demonstrates our unique abilities when it comes to the fabrication and complex reeling of larger diameter stainless steel flowlines.”
The production of natural gas of this field is based on CO2 being separated at the Melkøya onshore plant and re-injected into the field.
The Snøhvit project development will establish an additional well at a new CO2 injection template as well as prepare for gas production from existing template
Installation of the new flowlines will be performed by the Apache II in the first half of 2015, with other vessels from Technip’s fleet conducting the rest of the other subsea equipment.
