Inpex, Japan’s largest upstream explorer and producer, is seeking opportunities to acquire more natural gas resources in Vietnam, Malaysia, as well as other countries in Southeast Asia.
Inpex said it wants to establish an Asian gas value chain and promote demand creation centered around trading, midstream, as well as downstream investment.
Inpex said it would “create clean energy business opportunities in Asia with a focus on Indonesia,” in its Vision@2022, released last week.
The company said it would “collaborate with governments and concerned parties on the selection of prospective CCS locations including the diversion of depleted assets and development of legal frameworks.”
It will also “invest in fuel switching and new fuel businesses to promote energy transition in Asian countries (natural gas, hydrogen and ammonia, biofuels, etc).”
