Technip has landed a multi-million pound contract to provide umbilical tubes and hoses for Total’s Egina field off the coast of Nigeria.
The deal, worth in excess of £33million, will see the firm’s Duco subsidiary providing equipment for the offshore field, which sits approximately 200km from Port Harcourt.
The company said the work, which would see around 76km of steel tubing being delivered for water depths of up to 1750m, was set for completion in 2016.
Much of the work will be carried out in Nigeria, with 80% of the project management and 30% of the engineering required being localised in the country, although the umbilicals will be manufactured in Newcastle.
