Xcite Energy has submitted an environmental statement for its Bentley field development to the UK Government for review.
“This will be subject to public consultation as soon as practicable,” the Aberdeen-based heavy-oil explorer added.
The firm recently increased the field’s reserves estimate by 65% after an extensive well test and a seismic survey.
Bentley, south-east of Shetland, is now expected to produce up to 250million barrels of oil by 2050.
