Malaysian national oil company Petronas has extended its £36million contract for the Maersk Convincer jack-up rig by a further year.
The rig, which has been under contract to Petronas since 2011, will stay on to conduct high pressure high temperature drilling and under-balanced drilling until November 2014.
“We are very pleased to continue our cooperation with Petronas Carigali in Malaysia, one of the leading operators in Southeast Asia,” says Claus Hemmingsen, chief executive of Maersk Drilling.
We see this contract as a further strengthening of our relationship with Petronas and we hope it can pave the way for strengthening our position in the flourishing Malaysian market.”
