Max Petroleum says it has made an ‘excellent’ oil find in its latest appraisal well in Kazakhstan.
The company confirmed that drilling of the UTS-10 appraisal well in the Kazakh Uytas field has recorded nine metres of net oil find, having reached the depth of 484 metres.
Three metres of net pay were recorded in the Cretaceous Aptian section within a 40-metre interval of shows at depths between 125 and 165 metres.
The Jurassic reservoir included six metres of net oil pay in a 48-metre interval and oil shows were seen in the shallow Albian section from 46 to 58 metres.
The reservoir quality in the Cretaceous and Jurassic sections of the drill has been deemed “excellent.”
The announcement follows the company’s find of 26 metres of net oil pay in its UTS-11 well last week.
Max Petroleum now plans to complete the well and place it on test production “as soon as practicable”.
