Wood Group PSN are to provide pre-FEED studies as Enegi look to complete their field development plan for the Fyne oil field.
The company, which is looking to develop the field using a production buoy facility, has engaged Wood Group PSN to conduct studies to refine their design.
“We are delighted to have Wood Group PSN working with us on this project given their capability and expertise,” said Enegi chief executive Alan Minty.
“Considerable progress has already been made on the pre-FEED and FDP since we entered this project with all the partners working together to ensure that the deliverables are completed on schedule and the final FDP is delivered to DECC in good time.”
Enegi farmed into the field earlier this month after Antrim Energy had said it would not be continuing with development plans for the field due to rapidly escalating costs.
However, Enegi and Aberdeen-based Advanced Buoy Technology looked to a solution involving an unmanned buoy which would house production and processing equipment, with oil then offloaded onto a tanker.
ABT and Wood Group formed a strategic partnership two years ago to commercialise unmanned buoy technology.
“ABT’s buoy solution offers an exceptional opportunity to develop a significant proportion of reserves in the North Sea, as well as globally, that would otherwise remain untapped,” said Wood Group PSN managing director Dave Stewart.
“We are very excited to be working with the partners in providing an innovative development solution for the Fyne Field and look forward to working on further marginal field projects with the ABT and Enegi teams in the future.”
