Equatorial Oil & Gas, a subsidiary of Nodding Donkey, has completed drilling its first borehole in Botswana.
The borehole, located on licence 167/2010 in the Western Central Kalahari sub-basin, was drilled to the total depth of 658 metres an confirmed the presence of two coal horizons.
The company will now carry out desorption testing and draw up a work programme for further development of the licence.
“The maiden borehole has given us an invaluable insight into the geology of licence 167/2010, and enables us to plan a more detailed work program to develop the licence going forward,” said Noel Lyons, non-executive director at Nodding Donkey.
“It is our intention to expand Equatorial’s hydrocarbon footprint in Botswana, and we look forward to announcing further details on this front in due course.”
The farm-in agreement with African Coal and Gas Corporation can earn Equatorial up to 85% interest from the licence, dependent on meeting expenditure requirements.
