Privately-owned Norwegian company Volstad Shipping has signed a contract with Tersan Shipyard in Turkey for the build of a subsea IMR (inspection, repair, maintenance) and construction vessel.
The 128.5m ST-259 class ship will cost around $130million and is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2015.
It will be equipped for remotely operated vehicle operations like pipeline/route survey; subsea installation work through a central moonpool and over the ship’s side; crane operations; and cable/pipe-laying from carousels.
Fearnley Offshore Supply has facilitated the new build contract between the two parties and has also participated in the development of the design. Fearnley will also handle the chartering of the ship.
