Seismic specialists Spectrum have signed a a deal with Croatia’s economy ministry to provide offshore seismic data ahead of the country’s next round of auctions.
The survey group is preparing to start acquiring 2D data off the Croatian coast after mobilising scanning vessel Seabird to cover a 12,000 km area.
The offshore area of Croatia remains largely unexplored, despite significant gas discoveries in the Adriatic and oil finds in nearby Italian waters.
The survey, which is due to finish by the end of the year, will cover both northern and southern parts of the Adriatic Sea.
High interest has been generated from exploration companies ahead of the next licencing round, which is due to take place next year.
