Det norske oljeselskap has been given the go-ahead for a new wildcat well in the Norwegian North Sea.
The Norwegian firm has been given a licence by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for wellbore 2/1 – the first well in production licence 542.
Det norske is the licence operator with a 60% interest, with Tullow holding the remaining stake.
The well will be drilled by the Maersk Giant jack-up after it completes drilling of a wildcat well 2/1-16 S for Talisman Energy.
Meanwhile Statoil has been given a drilling permit by the NPD to drill a wildcat well on licence 128.
