Production has resumed at Statoil’s Visund platform in the North Sea – more than a week after a power outage forced 84 people to be evacuated.
Work at the platform resumed last night, five days after power had been restored.
“We have had problems with high voltage switches on both the main power machines,” Statoil spokesman Ola Anders Skauby told Aftenbladet.
“Errors on the main power had not been stabilized and rectified before this weekend.”
The company said it was still not sure what had caused the power outage, which took place on August 4.
More than 80 people were flown to the Gullfaks platform, leaving behind an emergency crew to rectify the error.
Experts from the mainland were flown out to help with the investigation into the shutdown.
“Experience shows that it will take a few months before we can say anything more about the causes,” said Skauby.
