Shell has spudded the final well of its drilling programme off the coat of French Guiana.
Drilling on the final stage of the four-well programme on the Guyane Maritime permit is now underway, following the discover of the Zaedyus oil find in 2011.
Three previous exploration wells had been unsuccessful, looking for similar areas to Zaedyus, but the final well will determine the oil water contact of the Zaedyus discover itself.
Shell owns a 45% stake in the area, which is equivalent to 100 UK North Sea blocks, along with Total, Tullow, Wessex and Northern Petroleum in the venture.
