Work has begun on Wintershall’s Amol and Asha East prospects in the North Sea.
The semi-submersible Borgland Dolphin is to carry out the work on the prospects, with the Asha East exploration well, on the Gudrun Terrace, to be drilled as a sidetrack from the main bore on Utsira High.
“The wells will target the Amol prospect, where we estimate around 6mmboe potential net recoverable resource to Bridge on an unrisked basis, and will also target the Asha East prospect,” said Tom Reynolds, chief executive of Bridge Energy, which is partners in the project with VNG and E.On.
“With significant resources discovered through the Asha well drilled in 2012, these wells have the potential to add significant resources to an already valuable asset.”
The fields are estimated to contain between 30million barrels of oil equivalent and 100million.
