Gas imports to the St Fergus terminal near Peterhead are down as a result of a power cut on a North Sea platform.
Gassco, the Norwegian gas system operator, said daily input had been reduced by about 353million cubic feet to zero because of a power outage at the Statoil-operated Heimdal riser platform in Norwegian waters.
Statoil said it expected to resume output today.
Total’s St Fergus terminal is still receiving natural gas from offshore fields in the UK North Sea, via the Frigg pipelines.
The Buchan plant is one of two receiving terminals in the UK for Norwegian gas but the other, Easington on the east coast of England, is undergoing planned maintenance which has cut gas supplies from the Langeled pipeline since August 10.
The work is expected to be completed by Monday.
