Indonesia has suspended oil, gas and condensate tenders after the chairman of the country’s energy regulator was caught taking a bribe last week, according to reports from the country today.
Rudi Rubiandini has arrested for allegedly taking a bribe from an executive with a singapore energy trading company, while three senior figures were suspended and banned from travel.
Now the country’s special taskforce for upstream oil and gas business (SKKMigas) has suspended a tender that was due to close today to sell hundreds of thousands of barrels from Total’s Senipah complex – a tender that reportedly included the company involved in the bribery scandal.
The energy regulator, which has named temporary replacements for the officials, told Reuters the scandal would not have an impact on oil operations in the country.
