Philippines-focused oil group Otto Energy says it has made a ‘high quality’ discovery in the second phase of operations on its Galoc field.
Drilling on the company’s latest well, 350km south of Manila, intersected a 260m section of a reservoir with was at the top end of predicted outcomes.
A liner has now been run to the reservoir after drilling also found poorer quality areas with the well now suspended until completion and clean-up.
The Skandia Hercules is now set to drill horizontally through the reservoir on a neighbouring well to allow completion before hook-up to the FPSO Rubicon Intrepid, with first oil from the site due in November.
