The Huntington North Sea field shut over safety fears a fortnight ago has resumed operation.
However, one of the partners in the project has admitted the field could be shut again next week if venting problems occur again.
Health and safety officials issued a warning on the Voyageur Spirit FPSO earlier this month after concerns about the cargo tank venting during low winds.
Operator E.On shut in the field before finally resuming production earlier this week – but partner Noreco said output on the field was still subject to weather conditions.
A new blanketing system is to be installed next week, but the Norwegian oil firm, which holds a 20% stake in the project, said today production would be shut-in again if wind speeds drop below 10 knots – the safe level for venting.
Noreco, which has seen production on all its fields shut in over the last month, said it expected output to ramp up to around 27,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day once the new blanketing system was in place.
