Lundin Petroleum has begun work on its latest appraisal well for the massive Johan Sverdrup discovery in the North Sea
The well, on the south-western part of Sverdrup will appraise the depth, thickness and quality of the field in an area where uncertainties are attached to reservoir levels.
“The well is expected to prove the existence of a producible oil zone and provide information for the planning of oil production from the south-western part of Johan Sverdrup,” said Lundin.
The Bredford Dolphin will carry out drilling, which is expected to take around 45 days and is the first stage of a two-well programme for the region.
