Technip has landed a share of a $1.7billion deal to carry out engineering, procurement and construction work on the Umm Lulu oil field in the United Arab Emirates.
The French services group, which has partnered with the UAE-based National Petroleum Construction Company, will carry out engineering work on the giant onshore project.
The joint venture is due to start work shortly, with completion by mid-2018. The project will see them working on the engineering of a offshore super complexes, with six linked platforms, gas treatment, accommodation and disposal facilities totalling 66,000 tonnes.
Platforms will be installed using Technip’s floatover method.
“This award confirms our world leading position in offshore engineering as well as floatover operations and strengthens our continuous involvement in major offshore projects in the UAE, where we have been present for more than 30 years,” said Technip’s middle east vice president Vaseem Khan.
“We are proud to contribute to ADMA-OPCO’s offshore complex as it will be the largest in the region.’
NPCC also won the contract for the first phase of the project earlier this year, as operator Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company looks to increase production to around 1million boed by 2020.
