Chariot gets go-ahead for Brazilian licences

Atlantic-focused oil group Chariot has got the go-ahead for three blocks off Brazil.

Exxon Mobil Corp., Royal Dutch Shell Plc and other energy giants are set to vie for deep-sea deposits that could hold 15 billion barrels of oil, almost twice as much as Norway’s reserves.

Atlantic-focused oil group Chariot has got the go-ahead for three blocks off Brazil.

The independent, which already holds four shallow water licences off the country, has been given approval for its 100% interest and operatorship for the sites in the Barreirinhas basin.

The company is now set to carry out environmental impact work on the three licence sites, ahead of starting 3D seismic scans next year.
