Aberdeen-based CAN Group has signed a £90million multi-year contract with the oil exploration giant Talisman Sinopec Energy UK.
The five-year deal, announced at the Offshore Europe Conference in Aberdeen, is to provide independent inspection services to the operator’s 11 offshore installations and its onshore terminal at Flotta, Orkney.
Talisman Sinopec Energy UK is one of the North Sea’s largest operators, and has installations in some of Scotland’s longest-established oil fields including Claymore, Montrose and Fulmar.
The deal is a significant win for the firm, which specialises in the engineering, integrity, inspection and maintenance field.
Up to 120 offshore inspection personnel will carry out the work, backed by an onshore team of engineers, planners and support staff.
They will deliver a full range of inspection services including non-destructive testing, quality assurance and quality control. They will also manage specialist subcontractors who provide services including microbial consultancy and vibration analysis.
Welcoming the announcement, Adam Byrne, CAN Group operations director, said: “This contract builds on a long relationship which began with the company in 2001.
“It underscores CAN Group’s capacity to offer clients a highly skilled and experienced team to support their operational delivery. The deal reinforces CAN Group’s reputation.”
