Two new award categories have been announced for one of the biggest events in the oil and gas industry calendar.
Organisers of the 28th annual Offshore Achievement Awards have added environmental and inspirational leadership honours to the prize roster.
The awards are open for entries from Tuesday, October 1 to Monday December 2, with judging taking place early in the new year.
Existing categories include export achievement, safety innovation, emerging technology, working together, significant achievement, great small company and great large company. There is also an accolade for “the innovator”.
All of the winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday, March 20.
The new categories have been introduced to open up the competition – run by the Aberdeen section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) – to a wider range of entrants.
Ian Phillips, the SPE board member responsible for organising the event, said: “The Offshore Achievement Awards are the primary forum for celebrating the very best in the offshore industry, from young professionals and emerging technologies through to safety advances and overall company performance.
“The two new categories allow us to further recognise the exceptional talent
which is shaping the industry today. From the many entries we have seen over the past couple of years, it is clear that there is much to be celebrated in the off- shore industry.”
Pete Jones, managing director of North Sea oil and gas business for event sponsor Taqa, said: “I’m very proud that we’re supporting these awards, which recognise and celebrate the best our industry has to offer.”
The competition is open to UK-registered firms working in the energy industry, including renewables. Earlier this year, the 27th awards ceremony attracted a record 530 guests.
