The boss of Xodus Group says the Aberdeen firm is actively seeking expansion opportunities in the Middle East, south-east Asia and South America.
Colin Manson, the energy consultancy’s chief executive, was speaking after accounts from Companies House showed a 54% increase in pre-tax profits to £3.7million last year.
Turnover grew by more than £13million to £48.6million.
Mr Manson’s confidence about the prospects for further strong growth comes just over two months after Japanese engineering giant Chiyoda Corporation acquired a majority stake in the business in a deal believed to be worth about £66million.
The transaction saw stock previously owned by investment vehicles Simmons Parallel Private and Sunrise Xodus transferred in whole to Chiyoda, although the size of the shareholdings involved were not disclosed.
Launched in 2005, Xodus offers integrated services covering oil, gas and low-carbon energy activities globally.
The firm has grown to more than 700 people worldwide, with offices in the Netherlands, Norway, Dubai, Australia, Nigeria and the US, as well as the UK.
Recent contracts include a £1.3million deal with Premier Oil, which saw Xodus secure work on the subsea front-end engineering and design for the Catcher project in the central North Sea.
Just a week before it unveiled the Japanese investment, Xodus announced it had bought the business of Dubai’s Prime Energy.
That deal for an undisclosed sum was the first acquisition Xodus had made in the Middle East since the launch of its Dubai operation last year.
Mr Manson said the company had ambitious plans for further international expansion.
He said: “We have our sights set firmly on further growth.
“The Middle East, South America and south-east Asia will continue to be a focus, and we are actively seeking opportunities to grow in these key regions.”
Mr Manson added: “It is an exciting time for Xodus.
“Our philosophy for growth is underpinned by having a strong core of expertise in the UK and developing a consistent culture.
“We will be bringing staff in our global regions together to compete in the Xodus Games in Dubai in November and believe in promoting a culture of competitive fun.”
