Norwegian oil firm DNO International says it expects to achieve record levels of production from its Middle East operations this autumn.
The company, which has begun testing of its Tawke-23 exploration well in Kurdistan, is looking to build on the success of its first horizontal well in the field.
It has already encountered continuous oil shows within a 930m section, with the first well on course to produce 25,000 barrels per day.
“Based on current trends, DNO International expects third quarter production from its fields in Kurdistan, Oman and Yemen will reach record gross levels of around 85,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, corresponding to an estimated company working interest production of 50,000 boepd,” the company said.
“Gross production for full year 2012 was 67,238 boepd, corresponding to 38,354 boepd on a CWI basis.”
Three further wells are also being drilled in Kurdistan, while work has concluded on an offshore well at Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, which looks to deliver 15million cubic feet of gas per day.
