Victoria Oil and Gas chief executive John Scott is to step down from the role, just seven months after taking over the Africa and Russia-focused explorer.
The former Halliburton regional director was named chief executive of the firm in February, but today it was announced the company was looking for a new man at the top.
His departure was due to ‘personal reasons’, the company said.
“John will remain at the company for a suitable time to ensure a smooth handover of his duties to the executive team,” the firm said in a statement.
“The company thanks John for his contributions and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”
The 54-year-old had joined VOG from Indus, where he was chief financial officer, after a 30-plus year career in oil and gas operations around the world.
