Max Petroleum said it was preparing for test production at its Sagiz West Field well in Kazakhstan after receiving encouraging results from appraisal drilling.
The SAGW-6 well reached a total vertical depth of 1,453 metres, with logs indicating 30 metres of net oil pay over a 93 metre interval at depths ranging from 1,194 to 1,287 metres.
The “good” quality of the finds means the company will now case the well and await the go-ahead to start carrying out test production.
Attention now moves to the company’s SAGW-14 appraisal well near the southern end of the Sagiz West Field.
