Petrobras saw average oil production from its Brazilian fields rise by 1.1% in August compared to the previous month.
The increase of an average 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 1,908,000 (bpd) followed the restart of four platforms shut down in July for maintenance – as opposed to only two shut-downs in August.
The startup of new wells – on platforms P-54 and FPSO-Piranema – has also contributed to the increase, the company said.
Petrobras’ overall output of oil and gas combined was 0.5% higher than in July at an average 2,294,000 barrels of oil equivalent (boed).
The company is now looking to begin production on platform P-63 in Papa-Terra field later this month and on platform P-55 after it is moved to the Campos Basin’ Roncador Field by the end of this week.
