Production has begun from the second development phase of the Parque das Conchas project off Brazil.
The Shell-operated project links several subsea fields to the Espírito Santo floating production unit, and will add a further 35,000 barrels of oil equivalent to the field’s output.
It comes after phase one launched in 2009, which produced a peak rate of 90,000 boe and currently outputs 35,000 boe.
Shell’s deep water executive vice president John Hollowells said completing the second phase marked a ‘great day’ for the project.
The third phase of development for the field, which will increase output by a further 28,000 barrels a day, was given the goahead in July. Petrobras and ONGC partner Shell in the project.
