Petrofac is celebrating a trio of new offshore project and operation contracts worth £25million – the beginning of an “exciting time” for the firm, according one of its top bosses.
The international service provider has won a £10million, one-year extension to its deal with Maersk to provide engineering services at three North Sea assets – Gryphon, Janice and GP3.
The deal keeps about 70 people in work.
Work is also under way on another job in Shetland, worth £13million.
Petrofac is working with Total E&P on a section of the new gas plant being built on the isles.
A three-year, £2million deal has also been struck with OMV for work in the UK, Austria, New Zealand, Romania and Tunisia.
Walter Thain, the company’s senior vice-president for Europe, welcomed the new jobs yesterday.
“I’m very pleased we’ve been able to secure this business and it’s an exciting time for Petrofac,” he said.
“It’s the best endorsement of our work when customers are happy to extend existing relationships as we are putting a renewed focus on delivery, to help customers achieve their immediate priorities and to secure the long-term future of their assets.”
The new projects follow a £34million contract win – from Siemens Energy announced in the summer.
It is to provide support during the commissioning phase of two offshore wind converter-station platforms in the German North Sea. It was the first win since Petrofac established Petrofac Deutschland in November 2012 for the offshore wind market.
The platforms are under construction. Each will connect several surrounding windfarms to the mainland, providing enough transmission capacity to supply about two million German households.
Petrofac will support Siemens with services tailored to the demands of commissioning large platforms in the North Sea, including procurement and management of jack-up accommodation barges, supply ships, standby vessels and helicopter transfers. It will also provide offshore crews to platforms during the commissioning.
The energy service firm also recently signed a £200million contract to operations and maintenance services and duty-holder support services to operator EnQuest on the Heather, Thistle, Northern Producer and EnQuest Producer.
