Engineering group Kentz has landed a deal to provide manpower for a massive expansion of Qatar’s Laffan Refinery.
The project will see the Qatargas facility double its output, with a further 146,000 barrels a day being processed at the site from the North Field gas find.
The plant, which is operated by Qatargas in partnership with a number of international majors, already produces 61,000 boed of naphtha, 52,000 boed of jet fuel, 24,000 boed of gasoil and 9,000 boed of liquid petroleum gas.
Kentz will support the management of the expansion over the next three years.
“We are pleased to build further on our relationship with Qatargas and to be awarded additional work on the Laffan Refinery project,” said Middle East managing director Shane Dooley-Cullinane.
“This year has seen a number of strategic changes made to our Middle East and engineering businesses and it is excellent to see a growing volume of awards within the region.”
