A division of Aberdeen-based global shipping and energy service firm Craig Group was named supplier of the year at the Africa Oil and Gas Awards last night.
The Capetown, South Africa operation of oilfield procurement business Craig International Supplies (CIS) got the honour in recognition of excellent service standards and strong growth throughout Africa.
It was presented with the accolade at a gala dinner and ceremony in Cape Town.
The Africa Oil and Gas Awards are the only energy industry honours on the continent and are judged by a panel representing government ministries and oil and gas operators.
They recognise achievements in Africa’s oil and gas sector, rewarding companies which have played a defining role in moving the industry forward.
CIS holds more than £600,000-worth of stock to meet client demand to be met at short notice and has an online procurement service.
Earlier this year, the company opened a base in Ghana to serve as a hub for procurement services to clients in-country and in neighbouring Nigeria, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast.
CIS country manager Thinus von Waltsleben said the firm was fast becoming a leader in its field in Africa.
Craig Group chairman and managing director Douglas Craig added: “CIS has evolved to become a truly global company, with divisions in Houston, Cape Town, Ghana and Poland and future bases planned in Mozambique and Australia.”
