JKX Oil and Gas has successfully completed and tested its latest Ukrainian appraisal well, the company announced.
Following clean-up, the Z-05 well in the Zaplavskoye exploration licence at Poltava, Ukraine flowed at a rate of 328 bpd of condensate.
The well was initially drilled to a total depth of 2,960 metres, but was then side-tracked by approximately 190 metres in search of better quality Visean reservoirs. Total depth of the side-tracked well is 2,943 metres.
The Z-05 follows the successful exploration well Z-04, drilled in 2012, and the 3D seismic survey earlier this year over the recently acquired extension to the Zaplavskoye exploration licence.
The company will now analyse logging and production data from both wells to determine the location for a third well in the prospect.
“The encouraging well result supports our continuing appraisal of this part of the Zaplavskoye licence,” said Paul Davies, JKX’s chief executive.
“Furthermore, the rich gas in the area provides a higher than normal propane and butane yield which enhances the overall LPG production at our Poltava facility.”
