Drilling of the latest appraisal well of the Evans Shoal gas field, offshore Australia, brought positive results, reported Eni.
The Evans Shoal North 1 well, drilled to a target depth of 3955 meters, is located offshore in the NT/P48 exploration permit in the north Bonaparte Basin, some 300 km northwest of Darwin.
The company estimates reserves of at least 8trillion cubic feet of raw gas in place, of similar reservoir characteristics as the Evans Shoal-2 well 12km away.
Eni has interests in 15 offshore exploration and production licenses in Australia, Timor-Leste and Joint Petroleum Development Area waters, 12 of which are Eni operated.
