Kintore-based sand control firm Darcy Technologies has landed a deal to provide completion systems for Statoil.
The system, which removes the need for gravel pack equipment, is set to be deployed initially on Statoil’s new development project for the Snorre field.
Earlier this week the Norwegian firm said it was looking to extend the life of the North Sea field until 2040 through the launch of a new platform and support of the existing infrastructure.
If successful, the deal could see Darcy’s sand control competion system rolled out to other projects on the Norwegiand and UK continental shelf.
“The contract award represents a great opportunity for Darcy given Statoil’s leadership in the field of sand control completion technology,” said the firms’ business development manager Mark Presslie.
“It also offers both parties significant upside potential as the patented technology addresses many of the challenges that completion systems face today and in the future. The skill set they have in place and the support they offer will serve to accelerate the technology’s uptake”.
