Norwegian oil and gas firm DNO has begun successful oil flow testing at the Salsala well off Yemen.
The $10million well, which was spudded in July, is on an area containing two producing fields with an average of 2,500 barrels of oil per day.
But testing on the Salsala well has seen an initial flow rate of 5,900 boed, before storage capacity limits saw that scaled back to 3,400.
The company is to fast-track development with an extended production test and appraisal well planned for early next year.
“Yemen continues to be an important focus area for DNO International and this discovery reflects our commitment to continue to build on our in-country knowledge, expertise and investments,” said the firm’s chairman Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani.
