Petrobras, together with partners BG E&P Brasil and Repsol Sinopec Brasil, intend to charter, through Modec and Schahin Petróleo e Gás, a production ship for use on the pre-salt portion of Carioca, which is part of Santos Basin block BM-S-9, offshore Brazil.
The project provides for the initial connection of eight wells to the FPSO, four as producing wells and four for injection, with the possibility of subsequent additional wells. The Carioca area is expected to start producing in August 2016.
The ship will be able to handle up to 100,000 barrels of oil and 5million cu.m of gas per day. The charter period is 20 years starting around June 2016.
