Aberdeen is to play host to the first in a new series of lectures aimed at the energy industry.
Imperial College engineering professor Chris Swan will address delegates from the industry at Aberdeen’s Art Gallery next month, for the first Atkins energy lecture.
The event, on December 11, will look at how to predict wave-in-deck loads.
“Our industry faces arguably the greatest set of engineering challenges ever faced in the industrialised era,” said Atkins energy chief executive Martin Grant.
“The key, as ever, lies in technical excellence; these lectures are a means of uniting our staff, industry peers and the next generation of engineers with independent technical experts to share best practice.
“We invited Chris to present due to his wealth of experience and insight into the factors currently facing the oil and gas industry. It is widely recognised that the industry requires a step change initiative in technology to address a variety of challenges, including the increasing need to extend the life of mature assets.”
