Aberdeen-based subsea contractor Bibby Offshore has expanded its offering with a charter agreement for a construction support vessel.
A seasonal charter agreement has been made for the Olympic ARES with Olympic Shipping, starting during the first quarter of 2014.
Bibby will use the vessel together with remotely operated vehicles from its sister company Bibby Remote Intervention. The vessel will be jointly marketed by Bibby and Olympic Shipping when it arrives in Aberdeen this month.
“Adding to our fleet increases our offering to the IRM (inspection, repair and maintenance) and construction market, which is an important growth area for the business,” said Bibby Subsea president and managing director Andrew Duncan.
“We have recently secured a number of major contracts in these areas and the Olympic ARES will be used to execute large and complex projects in the UK continental shelf, Denmark and elsewhere in the North Sea, whilst offering our clients greater choice and availability.”
The deal has scope to be extended should it prove successful for Bibby.
“We are very pleased to begin this relationship with Bibby Offshore and to have signed this first charter agreement with them,” said Olympic Shipping executive vice president Bjorn Kvalsund.
“The ROV services agreement with sister company Bibby Remote Intervention will allow us to take advantages of additional opportunities together and we hope to grow and expand this working relationship in the future.”
