Shell has come up empty in the final well of its programme off the coast of French Guiana.
The fifth well of the drilling series on the Guyane permit was drilled to a total depth of 6460m, but failed to discover any hydrocarbons.
Data from the drilling will now be used to drive future exploration on the licence.
“With the completion of this well, the joint venture will now concentrate on the integration of the data gathered over the last two years in French Guiana,” said Keith Bush of project partners Northern Petroleum.
“This will enable Northern to establish the value of the licence to the company and determine the best route to realise that value.”
