Technip are to provide diving services for the new Edvard Grieg pipeline after landing a subsea deal with North Sea operator Statoil.
The energy industry project management firm will connect the pipeline from the Edvard Grieg platform to the Grane oil export pipe for the Sture terminal near Bergen.
The contract will also see the company providing diving services to link the Utsira high gas pipeline from Edvard Grieg to the Scottish Area Gas Evacuation pipeline, which brings gas onshore to the St Fergus terminal in Aberdeenshire.
Technip will oversee the project, which is due to be completed in the second half of 2015, from its base in Haugesund with initial work getting underway this year.
“This will be the 6th and the 7th weld performed by Technip using welding habitat and equipment from the Statoil PRS pool,” said Technip’s managing director for Norway, Odd Strømsnes.
