Production on the Chestnut North Sea field has been suspended until December after a mooring line came loose on the floating production unit.
A line mooring the Sevan Hummingbird FPSO lost tension, with production now suspended as investigations get underway over the cause.
Work is now underway to repair the damaged mooring line and check the other eleven fastening the FPSO to the field, around 290km east of Aberdeen, which produces around 12,000 barrels of oil per day.
Field partner Atlantic Petroleum confirmed no other damage had taken place, and no oil had leaked as a result of the incident.
“Whilst it is disappointing that Chestnut production has been suspended, we will continue to work with our partners to ensure the safety of our teams and integrity of the vessel whilst looking to resume production as soon as possible,” said chief executive Ben Arabo.
Production from the field is due to resume in the first week of December.
