Shale explorer San Leon says its latest test well in Poland has ‘far exceeded’ expectations – boosting the country’s fracking ambitions.
Prolonged flow testing will now take place of the Lewino well in the country’s Baltic basin after refracking of the site.
The work comes after a redesign of the well, making a series of improvements since the original fracking work in July, which has now yielded far stronger results.
It represents a boost for Poland’s shale gas hopes after Talisman and Marathon withdrew from the country earlier this year.
“The behaviour of the well during these fracture treatments and throughout the subsequent initial clean-up period has far exceeded expectations,” said San Leon chairman Oisin Fanning.
“We look forward to finishing the clean up after running the well completion, and to the subsequent flow testing.”
